Be assured of a quality experience…

Part of our philosophy at the Scenic Hotel Group is to ensure that our guests can be certain of a high quality experience whenever they stay at any one of our 17 Scenic or Heartland properties.

To make sure this is the case we have rigorous systems in place to set the standards and ensure our staff maintain them. We have our own front office and food and beverages training experts whose job it is to travel to each of our hotels training our staff and ensuring that our high levels of service are maintained.

Another integral part of our commitment to quality is our participation in the Qualmark rating system. This is the internationally recognised programme by which New Zealand tourism operators are assessed and rated according to what they offer customers. It is a reliable and honest measure that gives visitors to New Zealand an idea of what to expect from operators.

To gain a Qualmark accreditation hotels are assessed and inspected on a regular basis in a range of criteria relating to cleanliness, safety, security and comfort plus the range of facilities and services they provide. As a result of the assessment process they are awarded a star rating ranging from one star ‘acceptable’ through to the five star ‘exceptional’ rating.

Our properties tend to fall into the three, four and four and a half star Qualmark categories while our boutique Te Waonui Forest Retreat in Franz Josef falls into the five star category.

Respecting our environment

New Zealand is a country renowned world-wide for its stunning scenery and pristine environment. It is something of which we are very proud and keen to protect.

As part of this we are continually introducing enhanced environmentally responsible practices into all our properties with respect to water conservation, energy efficiency, waste management, conservation and social responsibility.

You will also start to notice Enviro logos alongside our Qualmark ratings which are an official recognition of what we are doing as a responsible tourism operator.
