Scenic Hotel Group, together with joint venture partner, Lindsay Clarke, have embarked on a multi-million dollar makeover of Scenic Hotel Dunedin City that will see several significant enhancements both to the building and guest offering.

The project will commence later in the year and is expected to take around a year to complete. During this time the hotel will remain open and with minimal disruption to the quiet enjoyment of hotel guests.

The centrally located hotel is a mainstay for leisure and business guests to the region, and the new project will reflect the hotel’s position in a city renowned for its arts and culture. Scenic Hotel Group Managing Director Brendan Taylor says, “The investment into this popular property reiterates the group’s commitment to further developing the tourism offering in Dunedin and in offering hospitality that is in keeping with the communities that we operate in.”

Scenic Hotel Group Property Development Manager, Richard Hayman says, “The design concepts will reflect a more modern and eclectic style of hotel room and public spaces that aligns itself more closely with the creative flair of the city. Dunedin is intrinsically linked to the arts and we aim to capture this connection through a design concept that is vibrant, playful and engages the exciting use of colour as one of the design mediums.”

Behind a refreshed and more upbeat design will be some key changes to enhance the guest experience. At the forefront of this will the delivery of a fully air conditioned hotel along with fully refurbished guest bathrooms and IT/connectivity upgrades.

Hotel General Manager, Adrian Clifton says, “The refurbishment promises to offer the City of Dunedin a more contemporary accommodation offering in a prominent location that will reflect the creativity and culture of the city as well as delivering an enhanced guest experience on an already popular hotel.”
