Caring for Our Community and Environment
Being a contributing member of the Christchurch community and considering the wider environment are at the heart of everything Heartland Hotel Cotswold does.
At a local community level, Heartland Hotel Cotswold supports a range of community charities and special fund raising initiatives that includes Child Cancer, The Champion Centre and World Wildlife Fund to save the world’s smallest and rarest dolphin, the Hector’s Dolphin. Guests to the hotel can make a lasting legacy by purchasing an adoption pack for the Hector’s Dolphin or participating in any one of the hotel’s other fundraising initiatives to support charitable activities within the region.
Proudly New Zealand owned and operated, Heartland Hotel Cotswold supports ‘NZ Made’ initiatives by using local and New Zealand made wherever possible. This extends to food and beverage offerings as well as being an integral part of the hotel’s fittings and furnishings that also consider the southern climate with natural insulation and energy conservation being at the forefront of purchasing decisions.
Heartland Hotel Cotswold supports sustainable living and actively encourages guests to participate in simple but highly effective hotel initiatives to help keep New Zealand Green and uphold the hotel’s Qualmark Enviro Silver award status. This Government initiative is New Zealand tourism’s official quality assurance programme and provides an operational benchmark for the tourism industry as well as guests.
Simple gestures can make a big difference and at Heartland Hotel Cotswold these include:
- Chemical free cleaning products
- Waste reduction and recycling that extends to food and cooking oil waste
- Energy conservation
- Staff training in sustainable hospitality
