Telephone Charges

All local calls from your room are charged at local rates plus hotel connection charges. The only numbers that are free to call begin with 0800, 0508, 083210, 0125, 0124 and 083033.

All international phone calls will be charged at international rates plus a hotel connection fee.

Baggage Storage

Guests are welcome to leave baggage at reception prior to check-in or while you wait for transfers after check-out. Please discuss your requirements with our friendly reception staff.


Check-out time is 10.00am. Should you wish to keep your room after this time please contact reception for availability. Late check-out may incur an additional charge.


High chairs and portable cots are available for guest use. Please contact reception to discuss your requirements.

Dry Cleaning

A daily dry cleaning service is available daily except for Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Bags are available in your room wardrobe. Please complete the details and deliver to reception before 8.30am or call reception for collection from your room. Items sent after 8.30am will be returned the following day. Same day service available weekdays.


Electrical plug adaptors are available for loan from reception. A refundable deposit of $25.00 is required, added to your room account, or by cash payment. The adaptor must be returned to reception on check-out to receive the refund.

Electricity is supplied at 240V AC, 50Hz.

Guest laundry facilities are available on 5th floor of the Main Wing. Tokens may be purchased from reception. Organic laundry powder is complimentary.

Lost and Found

Please contact reception for assistance. Found items are stored by the hotel for three months. After this time goods are donated to local community groups.


A complimentary copy of the Otago Daily Times can be delivered to your room upon request Monday – Saturday. Please advise reception before 10.00pm if you would like one.


There is a daily charge for car parking. Please leave your car’s registration number at reception. For further information please contact reception.

Payment Options

Scenic Hotel Southern Cross accepts all major credit cards or cash payment in NZ$. All room charges must be cleared on check-out.

All accounts settled by credit card will incur a 1.5% credit card surcharge.


Pets are not permitted in the hotel, guest rooms, car park or left in cars overnight. Exceptions are made for registered Guide Dogs.

Post Office

Postage stamps for mail items within New Zealand or overseas can be purchased from reception. Letters to be mailed may be left at reception. A courier service is available Monday to Friday.


Our friendly, helpful staff wish to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. A luggage porter, transport arrangements, and suggestions for sightseeing and activities are just the beginning of the services we can provide.
