Scenic Hotel Franz Josef Glacier will be closed for the 2025 winter season from 1 May until 30 September 2025 (including hotel restaurant and bar). We have two alternative accommodation options for visitors to the Glacier Country region; 5 Star luxury rainforest retreat – Legacy Te Waonui Hotel Franz Josef (located just across the road from Scenic Hotel Franz Josef Glacier) or 3 Star Heartland Hotel Glacier Country which is located 30 minutes drive from Franz Josef/Waiau in the township of Fox Glacier.

We look forward to reopening in the spring and welcoming visitors back to this amazing destination from 1 October 2025.
