Scenic Hotel Group “Heads into Hamilton” with Heartland Brand
New Zealand owned and operated, Scenic Hotel Group announces its foray into the Waikato market by securing the management contract on the Ambassador Hotel in Hamilton’s centrally located Ulster Street.
From the beginning of February 2019, the hotel will be known as the Heartland Ambassador Hotel Hamilton. The management contract is the second of its kind between Scenic Hotel Group and Australasia hospitality and tourism investment group, ANZIIG, (Australia New Zealand International Investment Group).
ANZIIG managing director Yesh Mudaliar says the “Expansion of our portfolio with Scenic Hotel Group is the result of a trusted and highly successful relationship between ANZIIG and Scenic Hotel Group with Heartland Auckland Airport Hotel.
The 51 room property caters for business and leisure travellers and is generously set across two levels that includes a swimming pool, ample onsite parking, and buffet breakfast. Currently carrying a Silver Qualmark rating, the 3.5 star property will sit within the Heartland brand and complement the group’s extensive portfolio throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific Island of Niue.
Scenic Hotel Group Managing Director, Brendan Taylor says the recent management contract is a “Strategic move to further develop the group’s regional portfolio in significant tourism areas where the Group can make a positive contribution to the local tourism infrastructure with the Scenic Hotel Group of brands.”
Taylor points to the exceptional growth that Hamilton and the Waikato region has experienced in recent years which was recognised in 2018 at the Regional Tourism New Zealand Awards as the winner of the ‘Best Domestic Tourism Performance’ award.
Whilst Hamilton and the Waikato region perform exceptionally well from the business and leisure sectors, it is domestic visitors to the region that make the largest contribution to the regional economy. Scenic Hotel Group’s Brendan Taylor says the “Scenic Hotel Group brand is well established in New Zealand and travelling Kiwis know and like what they will get across the three brands offered within the Group. It is this loyalty that has been earned over our 30 year history that we believe will set our latest venture in very good stead within the Waikato region.”
