Whisky inspired dishes this winter

Home Grown Winter

As part of our Home Grown story, we’re proud to showcase Laughing Owl whisky.

Main: Whisky-Glazed Pork Ribs with Makikihi Fries (GFO, DFO) $40

Tender pork ribs slow cooked and glazed with Laughing Owl whisky, local honey and warming spices. Finished with garlic aioli and fresh coriander, served alongside crisp South Canterbury Makikihi Fries and a crunchy red cabbage slaw.

Dessert: Traditional Scottish Cranachan with Laughing Owl whisky $18

A winter classic, toasted oats caramelised in butter and brown, folded through raspberries and whisky infused mascarpone cream. Finished with crunchy golden oats and fresh berries for a rich perfectly balance finish.

Experience High Tea at Scenic Hotel Punakaiki, featuring a beautifully presented three-tier selection of sweet and savoury treats, enjoyed alongside sweeping views of the West Coast coastline.

Each High Tea includes your choice of one hot beverage or a glass of bubbles.

The Ocean View Restaurant and Bar is located in Scenic Hotel Punakaiki via the stairs from beach side or from the rear of reception (for a stair free option). Locals and visitors to Punakaiki are welcome to dine at the restaurant – avoid disappointment by making a booking in advance.

Opening hours: Open 7 days a week for Breakfast (7am – 10am), Lunch (11am – 3pm), and Dinner (6pm – 9pm)
