Planning your New Zealand Journey
What ever you call it, our country is simply beautiful, and is on the must do list for many travellers, both at home and abroad. From stunning beaches to alpine ranges and dense native rainforests, there is something to do for every interest, and always somewhere to stay with Scenic Hotel Group.
Where to stay and what to do are always top for a kiwi holiday, so here is a bit of food for thought when travelling this mighty country.
Accommodation in New Zealand is varied. It goes from a simple camp site through to world-class high-end lodges for the rich and famous. It also varies from location to location, and time of year so it is good to have your non-negotiables and a bit of a budget in mind and work from there.
Do your research – it is always a great idea to go online and check out your options, check reviews, locations and price comparisons, plus the secret is to book direct with your accommodation provider – you more than often can get a better price, and more favourable cancellation polices plus it is always easier to move your booking when talking to the property direct. Scenic Hotel Group offer a “Book Direct” unlock discount of 10% when you book online, but if you are talking to our reservations team you can also always ask for that discount too!
When you are planning where to stay in New Zealand, it is good to think of your trip and a couple of different ways to travel. Are you travelling the length of the country? A short loop? Or maybe the “Hub and Spoke” approach where you base yourself in one location and do day trips from there. For example, Christchurch is the ideal place to settle in for a few days and then you can explore this emerging city, as well as excursions to the scenic locations like Akaroa, Hanmer Springs, Waipara Wine Valley, Castle Hill and Arthurs Pass…. The list goes on!
New Zealand is a land of incredibly diverse scenery – all within a close proximity of each other. You can surf in the morning, and ski in the afternoon. Be travelling through lush rainforest one minute and on a pristine white sand beach the next. But there are some traditional routes that can maximise your time and allow you to get a snapshot of some of New Zealand’s most iconic tourist locations. One of our favourite road trips is to circle the South Island, taking in Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown and the West Coast all the way up to the stunning Marlborough Sounds…. An epic experience that will give you a great taste of what is on offer.
There are so many ways to travel and experience Aotearoa New Zealand… we have warm friendly people offering genuine kiwi hospitality, mixed in with pristine environments and breath-taking scenery; the biggest problem you are going to face is how to see it all!!
But we’ll make it easy for you. Check out our locations, there’s plenty to choose from to give you all that travel inspiration. Pick your adventure here.
